About Us
"Jeremy's become very independent with his asthma now. He's very comfortable with it. He doesn't think of it as a disease or hindering him now. He takes it more as, not so much as a gift, but something he can control on his own, you know, he's a normal person. Before, he thought, 'Oh, I'm sickly,' but the Asthma Swimming Program taught so much about asthma, breathing, how to control it. It has been wonderful, I have no complaints."
- Alicia Fullerton, Mother of Jeremy Fullerton, Boston Asthma Swimming Program

COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS Girls Fitness and Nutrition participants in Providence

Children in urban neighborhoods face frequent exposure to the risks of poor health, yet lack consistent access to the care and education needed to manage these risks in daily life. This is particularly true during afterschool hours, when children are most vulnerable to the adverse consequences of substance abuse, sexual activity, violence and crime.

In response, Project HEALTH partners with urban community centers to provide safe and accessible afterschool programs for children with chronic health conditions. In collaboration, with physicians, educators, families and community leaders, volunteers design and implement curricula that help children take control of their health through education, one-on-one mentoring relationships, and physical exercise.
